About this experience

The Trevi Fountain is one of the most emblematic and visited fountains in Rome, and a masterpiece of Baroque art. It was designed by the architect Nicola Salvi and completed in the 18th century by Giuseppe Pannini. It is built over the ancient Roman aqueduct Aqua Virgo, which still supplies water to the fountain today. Its imposing facade is integrated with Palazzo Poli and has a large central niche where stands the statue of Oceanus (often confused with Neptune), flanked by allegories of Abundance and Health. The sculptural ensemble, combined with the constant sound of water, creates a theatrical and dynamic scene typical of the Roman Baroque. One of the most popular traditions is to throw a coin backwards into the fountain to ensure the return to Rome; it is estimated that millions of euros are collected every year, which are destined to charity. Illuminated at night, the Trevi Fountain offers one of the most romantic and memorable postcards of the city.
