Necropolis of Saqqara: Entrance

Explore Saqqara, the vast funerary complex linked to the ancient city of Memphis. This site houses the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by Imhotep more than 4,600 years ago and considered the first great construction made entirely of stone. In addition to this pyramid, the site has mastabas, temples and extensive subway galleries. Many of these structures preserve hieroglyphs and reliefs of the first Egyptian dynasties. During the visit you will see well-preserved walls and chapels that reflect the early artistic and engineering skills of ancient Egypt, as well as learn about the early evolution of pyramid design and pharaonic culture through ongoing archaeological finds.
