The Bargello brings together key works of the Renaissance, including pieces by Michelangelo and the famous David by Donatello. In its historic building you can discover sculptures, jewelry and unique collections that make it a must-see museum in Florence.

The museum houses authentic Renaissance gems, such as four works by Michelangelo and Donatello's famous David in bronze, which shows a very different vision from Michelangelo's David. You will also find sculptures by Cellini, Luca della Robbia and Verrocchio inside this 13th century building. An entire room is dedicated to Michelangelo, with his imposing Bacchus surrounded by his early creations, as well as the Tondo Pitti and the portrait of Brutus. The Bargello, once a prison and the scene of fires and sieges, today houses unique collections: from Roman and Byzantine ivories to Renaissance jewelry and Quattrocento busts. Known as Palazzo del Bargello, Museo Nazionale del Bargello or Palazzo del Popolo, it is an essential stop for art lovers.
