The Cité de la Mer, located in the former Gare Maritime Transatlantique, combines multimedia exhibits, aquariums and visits to Le Redoutable, the world's largest submarine. It includes experiences on the Titanic, the Ocean of the Future and Normandy during World War II, as well as the "Listening to the Ocean" exhibition on submarines and marine sounds.

Located in the historic Gare Maritime Transatlantique, La Cité de la Mer is one of Normandy's top tourist destinations, dedicated to maritime exploration and the emotions generated by the ocean. The museum is spread over three floors filled with multimedia spaces, impressive aquariums and unique exhibits. Among its main attractions, you can relive the last hours of the Titanic, immerse yourself in the atmosphere on board, and explore Le Redoutable, the largest visitable submarine in the world. In addition, you will discover the Ocean of the Future and areas dedicated to the last wilderness on the planet. Don't forget to stop by the Art Deco auditorium, where films are shown about the Normandy coast and the strategic role of Cherbourg during the early days of the Battle of Normandy in 1944. The Cité de la Mer was recognized in September 2022 as France's favorite monument, alongside icons such as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. Recently, the "Listening to the Ocean" exhibition was inaugurated, which complements the visit to Le Redoutable and focuses on submarines and the sounds of the underwater world.
